Clock will be shipped with a new battery and the stem pulled out on the clock. The clock face pulls out of the hole in the doghouse. It has a plastic gasket to keep it in place. Clock ships with the stem pulled out so that the battery doesn't run down. The battery can be replaced by removing the back of the clock itself.
